Westport Police had a warrant for Robert Bush, 51, of Bridgeport, in connection with a dispute that took place on Sunday, Oct. 13, at a Westport business, said Lt. Anthony Prezioso.
The incident began around 1:50 p.m. when Bush had come to a woman's place of employment demanding money from her and asking to speak with her in the rear of the business, Prezioso said.
When she complied with his request to talk, a fight took place with Bush grabbing her cell phone when she attempted to call the police and then hit the woman in the face numerous times, Prezioso said.
Bush then fled the area.
The victim suffered facial injuries as a result. Responding officers could not locate Bush and attempts to apprehend him were initially unsuccessful and an arrest warrant was granted.
On Wednesday, Nov. 6, the Bridgeport Police called Westport with the news that Bush was in their custody.
Westport officers responded to the Bridgeport Police Department and transported Bush back to Westport Police headquarters for processing.
He was charged with larceny, breach of peace, and assault, and interfering with an emergency call.
He is being held on a $100,000 bond which Bush was unable to post.
